You know there is a lot of planning that goes into family summer vacations. Once the snow melts, the days get longer and the kids are out of school, there is talk of going somewhere to get away on vacation. Lists are made. Supplies are purchased. Vehicles are packed. But in order for that planning and preparation to lead to successful arrival at your destination, there has to be one last very important stop…for fuel.
The most important and valuable vehicle we have is the one that moves us from place to place each and every single day. Our body. So many people cherish their prized vehicles…always washing…always waxing…and nothing but the best goes into it. There are too many people around that want their body to work and look like a Ferrari, but they treat it like the first car they bought for $50 as a teenager.
There are no trade-ins for your body, however. Every decision counts. Every choice matters. What you use for fuel is vital for the trillions of cells that make up you. Failure to provide the right fuel, at the right time, in the right amounts leaves you suffering and falling short of the destination you were hoping to arrive at.
The foods that we eat can either be high performance fuel, or the metabolic equivalent of sugar in the gas tank. If you follow the Standard American Diet (SAD) diet that is high in refined sugars, processed foods, low fiber and inflammatory fats is robbing you of the right fuel and leaving your cells starving for energy. If you are dealing with rising blood sugar levels, high insulin, elevated triglycerides and pre-diabetes you are hurting your cell’s machinery and there will be suffering.
Change this to a diet that is rich in real, unprocessed foods, high in fiber, adequate levels of good health-promoting fats and avoiding all the fake foods that are so prevalent and you are starting to make some serious improvements in your health and fuel efficiency. You are now treating your body like a fine-tuned vehicle should be treated.
So if you are sick you need to STOP BN SICK by first starting with stopping the damage and making sure your body is getting not only the proper oxygen, but also the proper fuel. Commit to eating healthier the next 90 days…your body will thank you for it!
